Salvation
03:01
|

The kettle's on and your head's so far,
From the world you thought you
knew,
A book bound tight is open wide,
Revealing filth with which your
through.
Your smoker's lungs they gasp for air
In this burning house you
loved so dear,
Built on an island in the bay.
As pretty snow can hurt so
much,
Her eyes had pierced your thoughts,
And for that night she'd let you
sin,
And see her sinking ship.
She doesn't know she can swim,
Like you
didn't know you could breath,
But now you taste the freshest breath ,
And
you don't want her to sink.
This water's only two feet deep,
Stand up lets
walk away,
But it's really deeper than you think and its always been that
way,
Breathe what I breathe,
Breathe this air with me,
But her lungs
come prefilled with more than air.
We're not destined to sink,
We're all
meant to be free,
We're not destined to sink,
YOu must believe.
A fire
sparked in her heart,
And moved to her head,
And waves of grace brought her
to shore,
And showed her she weren't dead.
She said "its still there but
it's fleeting,
now that I've found hope,"
Oh the confidence in what she said
after tasking her first breathe.
"I breathe what you breathe,
I breathe
that air with thee, and now that I can see i know i'm free."

the Rib & the Woman
03:31
|
|||
There's a ghost of a man, who's as strong as he can be, and lonely too. He's loyal and strong, naming whatever he sees. With whom can he be, for whom can he slave, to whom can he place himself below, to love like ill later love him.
And I realize its not for his good, for him to be alone, so I take from his side, and I make him a bride, a love like never before. Just a rib for a woman, just a bone for a wife. Two in one made in my image, two in one, made for life.
Made alone but together, to share a world to themselves, to feel a love like no other, and find a life worth the hand they've been dealt.
Just a rib for a woman, just a bone for a wife. Two in one made in my image, two in one, made for life. Just a rib for a woman, just a bone for a wife.

The Dirt
03:36
|
|||
Push the dirt over the overgrown weeds,
So they’ll never be seen,
And they’ll die when they cannot breath,
It covers them well
The dirt is over my eyes,
So I can’t see what I’ve done,
I can’t feel the breeze I can’t see the sun,
I hope you can’t see what I’ve done
It’s the dirt where I came from,
And to the dirt ill return
It’s the dirt in my lungs, that makes me filthy and in need, to be cleaned
You’re as white as snow,
But you were as bloody as a freshly cut throat,
And you conquered what we fear the most,
And rose from the ground,
It’s the dirt where I came from,
And to the dirt ill return
It’s the dirt in my lungs, that makes me filthy and in need, to be cleaned
It’s the dirt in my lungs, that makes me filthy and in need, to be saved
It’s the dirt in my lungs, that brought you here to me, to save.

Gravel Road
05:40
|
|||
This gravel road that’s in my leg,
sending signals to my head,
my insides are showing red, and there is no one to turn away
onlookers piercing my defense, seeing all my ignorance
of who I was and who I am and who I dream to be.
But who you are is who i wished I was,
and who I am is what I never wished to be.
Put all the stars painting pictures by my bed,
and I will choose which one I want, and I will reach for it again.
Broken mirrors showing every move I make,
ten times over them my heart is telling my brain
to learn from my mistakes
I’ve heard many petitions about who im gonna be but ive never met that man and I am close with his disease, but I never shook his hand.

the lilies & sparrows Greer, South Carolina
the lilies and sparrows originated from Ben Patat's acoustic writings while on and off of tour with the band Divide the Sea. The songs are our way of praising God for what he has done for us. He is worthy of all of our praise for the sole reason that He created us, not to mention that He sent His son to die for our sins so that we may be considered righteous through faith. ... more
